Ways to Begin an Order

TableTurn provides four methods to start an order, allowing restaurants to choose the workflow that fits their needs:

Method 1: Floor Plan Layout

  1. Sign in to the terminal
  2. Select a table from the floor plan layout
  3. Enter the number of guests and select the Order Type (Dine In, To Go, etc.)
  4. Optionally add a description or Order Tags
  5. Click Create to open the order

Method 2: New Order Button (Floor Plan Screen)

  1. From the table layout screen, tap the + New Order button in the top-right corner
  2. This opens the same order setup screen without selecting a specific table first

Method 3: New Order Button (Orders Screen)

  1. Navigate to the Orders screen from the top navigation bar
  2. Select the + New Order button
  3. This bypasses the floor plan entirely – useful for tracking all open orders without referencing table locations

Method 4: Direct to Menu (Fast Bar/Counter)

  1. Configure the role to default directly to the menu/ordering screen upon sign-in
  2. When the employee signs in, the system bypasses the floor plan and Order Details prompt entirely
  3. Items can be entered immediately for fast transactions

Agent Best Practice: Method 4 is ideal for bars and counter-service. Set the Bartender role to default directly to the menu with a bar-specific menu assigned for maximum speed.

Available order types include Dine-In (always available), Take Out, Delivery, and Catering. These are configured in the register settings and can be toggled on or off.
