Held Items

Items can be placed on Hold to prevent them from being sent to the kitchen. This is useful when a guest wants to order an item but isn’t ready for it yet.

Steps to Hold and Release Items:

  1. Ring up a menu item on the register
  2. In the item customization sidebar, tap the Hold button (yellow icon)
  3. The item displays a yellow “Hold” badge on the ticket and moves to an “On Hold” section
  4. When the Send button is pressed, held items are NOT sent to the kitchen – only non-held items are sent
  5. To release: tap the held item on the ticket and select Remove Hold, then Send to send it to the kitchen

Payment with Held Items:

  1. When Pay is tapped with held items on the order, the system only charges for sent items
  2. After payment, a yellow warning appears: “Order Not Closed – Remove Held Items to complete the order”
  3. Option A: Tap Remove Held Items and Close to remove the held items and close the order
  4. Option B: Go back, remove the hold manually, and pay for the remaining items

Note: The table map shows a small yellow circle icon next to tables that have held items, alerting staff to unresolved items on the order.
